Examinining and presenting at Utrecht University

28 06 2012

Spent the last two days in Utrecht with the colleagues of the Wired Up project, a combination of social science and humanities research about digital identities of migrant youth. On wednesday June 27, I was part of the examination committee of Koen Leurs, an Utrecht PhD student who conducted excellent research about the new media use and practices of Dutch Moroccan youth. I have seldom seen such a mature piece of work, and although I had something to nag about methodology, the thesis was very very good.

A day later , I gave a keynote for the concluding conference of the Wired Up project, framing our Fitna research in terms of diaspora and identities. Nice audience, good questions and catching up with old and new friends.
