Speaking at the Brunel Comedy Centre

Sharon Lockyer of Brunel University has set up a new Centre for Comedy Studies there, and its launch was yesterday.  Sharon had organised a wonderful afternoon with academic presentations, a panel with comedians talking about their challenges and experiences, a book launch and finally, inevitably, a comical performance. As one of my fellow academics, Brett Mills of UEA, said yesterday: ‘This is the kind of event that reminds you why you went into academia.”

I presented our research about two comedy videos in the Fitna debate, reviewing their humor strategies , and how they worked on YouTube audiences.
