Examining in Amsterdam

24 06 2014

I was invited to take part in the committee examining Sanne Kruikemeijer’s PhD about the usage of social media by politicians (Amsterdam School of Communications Research). I had used her outcomes already (with appropriate credits) on March 8, when  I did a presentation for local female politicians, on the account of women’s day. Good solid research, basically coming to the conclusion that the campaign should have a coherent personalized and interactive message, and that the media through which that is communicated do not matter all that much. Sanne did brilliantly, but the best surprise came afterwards when Sanne’s Indonesian grandmother gave a self-baked ‘spekkoek’ to all the committee members. That was a wonderful first and I hope more gifts like that will come!
